Deleted Thread: ´Open Letter To Amnesty International´

We have removed Edward Herman and David Peterson’s article, ´Open Letter To Amnesty International´ and Raoul Djukanovic’s comments from the site. We are particularly concerned that the discussion has included accusations of lying. We (Media Lens) are not accusing anyone of lying - we published this material to indicate how problematic it can be to access the facts via mainstream media reporting. We regret that the antagonists in this debate have increasingly resorted to somewhat ill-tempered accusations against each other. Because we don’t want to be guilty of publishing defamatory statements from either side, we will not be able to post future articles or comments on this topic if this ill-tempered tone is maintained. For this reason, we are removing earlier postings which, in retrospect, were part of this escalation.

As we have often stated, we urge journalists and commentators to maintain a restrained and respectful tone at all times - debates should be conducted in straight, factual, non-emotive language.
