The military government in Sudan is regularly cited as one of the world's worst human rights abusers. In the late 80s/early 90s in particular there was much talk of the infamous 'ghost houses' where political prisoners were kept in secret. Nobody knew where they were and the prisoners effectively ceased to exist until they were released - if they ever got released of course. Now it seems the US has been employing exactly the same tactics in Iraq, keeping prisoners secret from the Red Cross and effectively denying their existence. The Sudanese did it so they could torture with impunity, wonder what the American excuse is?

But them'z terrorists, didn't you know? We got secret files never to be shown to any publicly recorded court for the sake of national security. The security of the free world will collapse unless we do this, can't afford to have wishy washy liberal rules about our terrorist prisoners. Embarassed
