Dear James

We are very sorry to have to bother you with this again so soon. Alas, Oliver
Kamm’s defamatory smears continue (see below). We have no doubt that you have no
interest in wading through his specious claims or our refutation of them. We
will provide only one example indicating Kamm’s mendacity. He offers the
revolting claim that we ‘are firm in defending Assad's repression’. In fact we
could not have been clearer in recognising ‘the bloody ruthlessness of the
Syrian Baathists, epitomised by Assad's father and continued now by his son,
Bashar’ (http://tinyurl.com/6w7b44m). We have described Assad as the ‘ruthless
dictator’ he very obviously is (http://tinyurl.com/7h263ng).

The Gandhi Foundation awarded us their International Peace Prize in 2007
(http://tinyurl.com/6pdle4b) precisely because we are opposed to violence,
tyranny and racism of all kinds. We are motivated by Buddhist values and seek
solutions to human suffering through non-violence, compassion and rational
argument. We believe that human happiness can only flourish in conditions of
freedom. Kamm’s claim that we are supporters of mass murdering tyranny is
therefore a disgusting and exact reversal of the truth.

Sincerely

David Edwards and David Cromwell
