brilliant stuff again jay thanks (i was looking for more mcluhan stuff)

thanks for that vid aswell danielmaz, going to have a look at that now. (sleep can wait)

i forgot about ubuweb thanks for reminder jay, there are some situationist films on there that might interest some here, going to look them up now.

right, they have changed the listing from the last time i looked..

here is some guy debord (in french by the looks of it, some have subtitles, some of which i have seen before but to be honest the language is so dense you are better off reading the books, or maybe im just slow)

http://www.ubu.com/film/debord.html

There was a good one on there i dll`d before which was about TV but that was listed under "situationists international", now everything is listed by name and i cant remember the name of the filmmaker, i`ll have another look tomorrow/today (depending on ones sleep patterns/shift)

oh and here is that mcluhan/mailer discussion i posted on the MB a while ago..

http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=5470443898801103219&q=mcluhan

if anyone can find "hell unlimited" by norman maclaren that would be great too, its a really good early anti-war film about profiteering etc. (i cant find it online at the moment, lots of other maclaren but his later animation stuff, which i love but its not the right thread/site for it)

a basic home video type production more or less about ParEcon...

a very rough (humorous yet informative) piece on participatory economics, cooperatives and general economic-reform-rabble rousing...shot at the commercial drive festival on June 18, 2006.

http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-8327967290607214483&q=parecon

(any more vids about ParEcon? i had a brief look but this is all i could find, could do with something more comprehensive and didactic in my opinion, if there isnt one available then the ParEcon community should make one...)

a two hour discussion about "innovation journalism". (its some organisation/term that someone at stanford came up with i think, i relates to innovations in journalism due to infrastructure/technology changes and how innovations themelves are reported)

an interesting discussion on what the computer/computer press people are thinking about in terms of where we are at and where we might go etc etc etc

The Future of Innovation Journalism

(David Nordfors, Innovation Journalism Vol.2 No.12, Oct 31 2005. Recorded 27 July 05) A roundtable discussion about the future of ... all » journalism with the "father of the Internet" Vint Cerf (Google /ICANN), Whitfield Diffie (Sun Microsystems), journalists and experts. Producer and moderator: David Nordfors (Stanford / VINNOVA)

It's innovation time for journalism! Traditional news media are being challenged by innovative sources of news on the Internet, such as blogospheres, or citizen journalism. Traditional journalism struggles when covering innovation as a topic. While innovation pivots society it is not a key news word. Traditional news beats, such as technology, business or politics - chop up innovation processes to fit their news slots, missing the bigger picture.

How can journalism report on innovation, following the cross-boundary interactions driving today's society? Who can do it?

Israel`s Secret Weapon. (bbc documentary)

"The United States and Britain are preparing to wage war on Iraq, for its undisclosed weapons of mass destruction. Israel's nuclear, biological and chemical capabilities have remained un-inspected. Meanwhile Mordechai Vanunu has been imprisoned for 16 years for exposing Israel's secret nuclear bomb factory to the world. Vanunu is seen as a traitor in his own country. He has been abandoned by most of his family and has spent 11 years in solitary confinement. Today only an American couple, who have legally adopted him, are among the few visitors he is permitted. This film is the story of the bomb, Vanunu and Israel's wall of silence."

Post Post subject: 9/11 Press for Truth Reply with quote

The Story
“We felt the country was at risk from terrorists and from incompetence…and maybe worse.” —Lorie Van Auken, September 11th Widow

Following the attacks of September 11th, a small group of grieving families waged a tenacious battle against those who sought to bury the truth about the event—including, to their amazement, President Bush. In ‘9/11 PRESS FOR TRUTH’, six of them, including three of the famous “Jersey Girls”, tell for the first time the powerful story of how they took on the greatest powers in Washington—and won!—compelling an investigation, only to subsequently watch the 9/11 Commission fail in answering most of their questions.

Adapting Paul Thompson’s definitive Complete 9/11 Timeline (published by HarperCollins as ‘The Terror Timeline’), the filmmakers collaborate with documentary veterans Globalvision (‘WMD: Weapons of Mass Deception’, ‘Beyond JFK’) to stitch together rare overlooked news clips, buried stories, and government press conferences, revealing a pattern of official lies, deception and spin. As a result, a very different picture of 9/11 emerges, one that raises new and more pressing questions.

What actions were taken by top government officials who received dozens of specific warnings before the attack? Was Osama Bin Laden and his top al Qaeda leadership allowed to escape U.S. forces in Afghanistan? And what has been the reason for the deliberate obscuring of evidence for state sponsorship? Perhaps the most important one of all: Why, five years later, are so many of the families’ questions still unanswered?

incidentally,i am still trying to find a poem contributed to and broadcast from his radio show in october, just after the "jack straw veil debate".
- i think it was called "but we cant see their faces" - i thought it was good - cant find it on his site- i dont think those kind of contributions are archived there as yet - that is a listeners poetry section - shame - some interesting poems ones on blair/bush/war too. if anyone can find them please post.

vegetable man - you raise an interesting point there [above] re radio 4 archive hour - clearly its not public service archive - even though the licence fee may be said to have paid for much of it

all the best, sir jay
