Post Post subject: Government make 62b, O2 2b and kids get exposed to TETRA! Reply with quote

from Tim Moore's email to The Times 19/01/04

"according to European law, the contract should have gone out to tender but didn't. Why?
When the system was forced upon the police, despite an independent report commissioned by them showing grave concerns on the health aspect, the police were offered money in order to help smooth things over. Had they chosen to go with another system that cash would not have been made available to them. Does this not constitute a bribe?"

The whole email:

Sir

With regard to Tetra and mobile phone systems both carry health risks, some short term some long term, as they both involve increased use of magnetic fields.

Within medical circles Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields (PEMF) are used, among other things, for the stimulation of bone growth on fractures that have failed to unite normally or post-surgery. The reason PEMF is still a topic of debate in the U.K. is that in order to be 100% sure it is the PEMF that has caused the healing you need a large, double-blinded, randomised controlled trial of patients with the same fractures/ age/ history and this is simply not possible. However, it is more than reasonable to state that when a patient who has had a non-union for eighteen months has PEMF applied (and no other major factors have changed) and the bone heals, that this is the result of PEMF. Since we have electrical currents in our body normally, altering electrical charges in specific areas can be expected to make a change to cell function. In the United States PEMF products are governed by the FDA (Federal Drugs Agency) and are big business.
So how can one group of professionals say it does have an effect and another say it doesn't?
From my own personal experience in the past there is no doubt that PEMF does have an effect on bone growth and so, when masts are placed near schools where children who's bodies are growing make the best conductors for the waves, there is cause for concern.

What's the connection between PEMF and Tetra?

In medicine, when the heart beats it should rest afterwards and that's how we pick up a pulse; it's the difference in pressure between when the heart contracts and when it relaxes. If the heart does not totally rest at zero when relaxing we can still pick up a pulse because there is still a significant differential between the contraction and relaxing.
Tetra masts pulse, as well as the handsets, despite O2 saying it's just the handsets. The government's criteria for the word "pulse" is that the wave burst returns to zero after being emitted. Tetra doesn't return to zero, it ALMOST returns to zero. It's a technicality; like the heartbeat there's still a huge difference between the contraction and relaxing stages and if you were to be able to feel a Tetra wave you would feel it as a pulse.

Tetra pulses at almost the same rate and consistency as brain waves and it is this that causes the concern along with any possible long-term side effects.
PEMF signals, used medically, are set within known safe parameters, on an individual patient basis, in a set area of that patient's body for a set length of time. The fractures are x-rayed at the beginning of treatment and then every six weeks for the length of treatment. The change in bone growth can be seen and the clinical decision as to whether the fracture has healed is left to the orthopaedic consultant.
Tetra signals are indiscriminate in regard to whom they effect, are on all the time and pulse at far higher levels. While O2 say there isn't any evidence to say there is a long-term risk, neither have they independent, documented evidence to say it is safe. Bare in mind these things may take ten years or so to show.

Corruption?

The Australian police, in their own police journal, wrote that they could not understand why the British Police were going to go ahead with Tetra after the Australians had thrown it out; they had tried and tested it and found it wanting. In Europe they have a system similar to Tetra, but safer and proven. So why did the British government and police go with Tetra?

When the British government sold off the airwaves it was an asset strip. They made a deal worth 62billion and, best of all, there did not appear to be any backlash or outcry. O2 stand to make 2billion out of the deal.

However, according to European law, the contract should have gone out to tender but didn't. Why?
When the system was forced upon the police, despite an independent report commissioned by them showing grave concerns on the health aspect, the police were offered money in order to help smooth things over. Had they chosen to go with another system that cash would not have been made available to them. Does this not constitute a bribe?
When O2 was turned down for planning permission they ignored the law, and the people's wishes, and put them up anyway. Is that not illegal?
When O2 applied for planning permission in our area they failed to notify the council that the 500m range of the pulsing would fall into THREE schools, affecting the most vulnerable group and including my own children. Is this not irresponsible as well as being misleading to any authority trying to consider planning permission?

Tetra will only cover 60%-70% of the country compared to the 96% of the current system and it is not able to do all that is required or all that 3G masts can currently do. To bring it up to standard will cost more money and take some years. Why pay all this money for a system that is nowhere near as good as other systems? Would you go into a shop to buy something you needed only to come out with something that didn't meet your needs and cost you a lot more?

The only way this scenario makes sense is if there has been underhand dealing with a few making big money at the expense of the many.

While people may laugh or think others hysterical at the complaints of sleepless nights and general feeling of being unwell, I have yet to have anyone answer my questions on how the government and O2 have gone about their business. So even if there weren't any proven health problems should we not be investigating the way this issue has been handled?

Or will that be another nail in the coffin of justice and truth?

This is another big cover up. We were recently on the verge of buying a house we really liked, but discovered there was a small Orange (the company) mast a couple of hundred metres away. I phoned orange and asked them for info - they basically served an array of platitudes as you might expect. So i looked into the possible health implications (we have a young child) on the internet. Suffice to say we were shocked - this radiation is really bad for you - and pulled out of the purchase after hiring a microwave radiation (which is what it is) monitor to check the levels, which were sky high. I'd advise anyone living or thinking of living near one to look into it, and in general to be aware of proposals and planning applications in your communities - these are usually kept pretty quiet.

Useful sites: www.powerwatch.org.uk/ - great for general info and links
