Norwich Stop the War Coalition MEDIA BLACKOUT PROTEST
Monday 29th November 3pm, Norwich Centre

Whilst British troops join the 5,000 US led force in attacking and raiding Iraqi towns along the Euphrates, the UK media is preoccupied with foxhunting and flawed elections in the Ukraine.

Over fifty US troops were reported killed and nearly 200 injured on the attack on Falluja with estimated casualties of 2,000 ‘insurgents’. These figures do not square with the ‘small hardened pockets’ of ‘Saddam loyalists’ and ‘foreign fighters’ the military controlled embedded journalists, would have us believe. Prior to the attack it was reported that many thousands of inhabitants remained behind.

There were disturbing reports that the city’s refugees were suffering US aerial bombardment in their camps at outlying villages. With much of Falluja reduced to rubble and no food, water or medical supplies, the Red Crescent spoke of a humanitarian catastrophe. Little of this has appeared within mainstream media.

Norwich Stop the War Coalition are organising a ‘Media Blackout’ protest. This will be a slow march with placards pausing outside the offices of the EDP and BBC at the Forum, Norwich Centre. A statement will be handed in to the media offices.

MEDIA BLACKOUT placards will display graphic images and captions such as: ‘NO MORE BODY BAGS’ and ‘OUR TAXES FUND THESE DEATHS’ Protesters are asked to wear black or dark clothes. Masks may be worn and the march will be punctuated by a siren’s wail.

Assemble 245 pm Monday 29th November between St Peter Mancroft church and ‘Next’, near Haymarket, Norwich Centre, for 3pm commencement.
